Angels are everywhere. Just look around you.
Often depicted as incredibly beautiful humans with very large, feathery wings, images and references to them can be found in architecture, books, movies, songs, paintings, sculptures, on the ball field and in our places of worship. Angels are mentioned in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. At Christmas, angels are prominent as decorations, even adorning the top of our Christmas trees. Valentine's Day would not be complete without the pudgy, winged baby, Cupid, whose arrow brings love to those it strikes.
Actually, angels have no physical form, for they are creatures on a different vibration level which our five senses cannot discern. However, they are as real as you and I. And they are around us at all times.
The realm of angels is quite different from ours-time and space have no meaning to them. Of all the angels, the guardian angels and archangels, which you will read about further along, spend the most time in our world. They can be anywhere and everywhere at the same time. Unimpeded by a physical body, they can travel at the speed of thought. Though that concept may be hard for us to grasp, it is nevertheless their reality. That is why when we call upon them, they are there in an instant. Angels want us to call upon them to help us along our path, but we are not to worship angels; we are to worship God through the angels. Angels are simply our assistants in reaching a higher understanding of God and The Universe.
The word angel is from the Greek "angelos", which means messenger and, indeed, angels are Gods messengers. In Islam, Gods messengers are known as Malaika. They are mentioned eighty times in the Koran, which is believed to have been dictated to the Prophet Mohammed by the angel Gibrail (the Muslim spelling of Gabriel). The Bible tells us that in the beginning, God made the heavens and Earth and all things seen and unseen. These unseen entities, known as angels, have a very important role in Gods design. These spirits love us unconditionally and communicate with us on a subconscious level.
From the moment we are born, we have a guardian angel protecting and watching over us, but there are others who can be called upon. That little voice in your head could possibly be your guardian angel helping you to make a decision, giving you advice, comforting you in troubling times, reminding you of things to do or even cautioning you about potential problems. Like a gentle nudge, an idea is planted for you to act upon.
Stories abound of people who have had experiences with angels that have changed their lives. I have included a few special ones later in this book.
It is important to keep in mind that angels do not judge us. We have free will; they simply give suggestions. Many times our gut feelings are the subtle handiwork of our angel friends, but it is still up to us to heed or ignore their whispers.

Angels want us to have a strong bond with them and to freely call upon them. We do not need to be religious or holy to have angels respond to us. Their true essence is pure love. Quite often we make a connection with our angels through prayer and meditation. It is during these times that we are closest to them because we are focused on our spirituality instead of the material world in which we live.
